[Clinton, N.C.] – Sampson Community College continues its partnership with Project IMPACT (Improving Achievement for Children in Tobacco) this week. The program is an eight-week summer program for youth that features a full day of hands-on and project-based learning, creative arts and healthy living activities, leadership development, and career exploration.

“We have had the pleasure of working with students ranging from rising sixth graders to juniors in high school,” says Susan Baxter, Division Chair of Education Programs at SCC. “They are visiting us from the Hobbton and Union districts.  We have tried to show these kids what its like to be in a college setting…on a college campus.”

Sampson Community College has partnered with the Telamon Corporation and its Project IMPACT program to give young students of Sampson County a unique experience. Students will be on campus all summer learning about the various career paths the college offers.

“Each student will get a chance to teach a short skill to their peers as they try their hand at teaching,” Baxter adds. “We have enjoyed getting to know them and introducing them to Sampson Community College as they continued camp this week.” Telamon teaches clients to access resources in their community and overcome barriers to employment. The Project IMPACT summer program continues at SCC next week.
