SCC Launches Career Services Portal

With the Spring semester officially underway, SCC launched a new Career Services portal this month through its partnership with College Central Network (CCN). The portal, housed on the CCN site, allows students and alumni to quickly apply to jobs and internships.

College Central Network, Inc. has relationships with several other community colleges in the state. Sampson Community College’s partnership with the Network will allow its students to access career opportunities and services 24/7. In addition to job and internship postings, students can access the SCC events calendar, career and job-search advice, podcasts, videos, and more.

Kaylan Dudley, Outreach and Career Specialist, says this partnership will benefit students and employers throughout Sampson County.

“I am excited about the launch of Sampson Community College’s new career site and job board, College Central Network. College Central Network (CCN) is an online job portal that will allow our Career Services staff, students, alumni, and employers to interact. College Central Network’s goal is to connect job-ready students and alumni with career opportunities in the greater Sampson County area and across North Carolina while providing the resources needed to succeed in the workforce,” Dudley commented.

Launching the site also allows the College to expand its relationship with local businesses and employers, who can post and search for qualified applicants on the site free of charge. In addition to increasing relationships with local employers, Sinclair says joining with CCN also gives the College access to the NC Community and Technical Colleges Job Consortium.

“This means that our students at SCC that make an account with CCN can view job postings across North Carolina and easily connect with these employers. By joining the consortium, we can link our student talent in Sampson County to employers across NC, making it feasible for NC employers to reach and hire the workers they need here in Sampson County. Students will be able to develop networks and create relationships with employers that need their talent,” Dudley shared.

But expanding the job search to the entire state will not limit local employers. Sinclair says joining the NC Community and Technical Colleges Job Consortium gives flexibility to Sampson County employers. When local employers post jobs through CCN, they can choose to promote positions to SCC students/alumni only, or to all College Central Network users in North Carolina.

With the onset of COVID-19, ensuring that Career Services at the College were virtual and accessible was a priority. Dudley says guaranteeing that students were able to job search easily and effectively during these stressful times solidified the decision to partner with CCN.

Students can access College Central Network at collegecentral.com/sampsoncc. Contact Outreach and Career Specialist, Kaylan Dudley, at ksinclair@sampsoncc.edu or 910.900.4110 for more information about Career Services.
