In 2019, Sampson Partners, Inc., formerly Sampson Crisis Center, joined in a partnership with Sampson Community College. Included in this partnership were a scholarship and the use of the Sampson Partners’ downtown space for additional classes and events. Last week, Sampson Partners, Inc. donated an additional $2,000 to be used for its Sampson Partnership scholarship.
Sampson Partners is an organization devoted to addressing, “…basic human needs in Sampson County,” as their mission states. Those needs include food, clothing, shelter, and other necessities. Establishing a partnership with the college seemed like a natural step for the organization, which began its service to Sampson County in the 1980s.
President, Dr. Paul Viser, and Director of Financial Operations, Johnny Pridgen, Jr. each say this most recent donation allows the organization to be a part of the positive changes taking place at Sampson Community College.
The 2020-2021 school year is the second time that the Sampson Partnership scholarship was awarded at Sampson Community College. Prior to the onset of COVID-19, the Sampson Community College location at the Sampson Partners location had just opened and was briefly used for Workforce Development and Continuing Education courses and events.
“We appreciate the support of the Sampson Partnership and so many other local organizations who fund scholarships to help our students with educational goals,” Executive Director of the Foundation, Lisa Turlington stated.
