Viking Spotlight: Angela Vann

Written by Anna Blount

Angela Vann, born in Roseboro, NC, has found her way back to Sampson Community College after graduating over fifteen years ago.

Vann graduated from SCC with her associates in May of 2003. Vann went on to Mount Olive where she received her bachelor’s degree in 2005. In 2012, Vann graduated from The University of Grand Canyon with her master’s degree. “All are in Early Childhood Education. I was blessed to be an honor student at all three colleges.”

“What brought me back to SCC were two great ladies, Susan Baxter and Tawana Coe, who offered me the chance to teach students – both in the classroom and online!”

“I tell my students that education is available for anyone, and with a little hard work and late nights, you can be and do anything by the grace of God!”

Vann teaches in the Early Childhood Education program here at SCC. Vann’s favorite part about teaching is being relatable. She gets inspired when she sees a light go off in their eyes as did hers when she was a student. “I know I have taught them something as well as I was taught in the past.”

Vann hopes to give them the same encouragement she received while pursuing her degrees.

Vann knows that all her students want to work with children, and she hopes they learn how to be the best teacher that they can be. Sampson Community College is proud to have Angela Vann as a graduate and a professor.
