The SCC Faculty Senate Meet-and-Greet was held this week at the campus of Sampson Community College. Faculty and Staff were able to meet representatives of the organization.

The Second Annual event is an opportunity for the employees to mix, mingle and munch, while members of the Faculty Senate answered questions faculty might have, but the greater purpose was to provide a little break for hard-working faculty and staff.

“The goal of our organization is to give faculty members a voice,” says Angela Marco, President of the organization. “When our department colleagues share issues with us, Faculty Senate appointees meet discuss these concerns and propose solutions, which we then take to administration.  In the past, we have addressed everything from parking to benefits and a lot in between.”

The senate serves as the official representation of the faculty to the administration and Board of Trustees concerning matters of interest to the faculty and to encourage the professional growth of faculty.
