[Clinton, N.C.] – Sampson Community College’s Truck Driver Training program has been popular at the college for years but you will not be able to tell that by looking at them. Local business Davis’ Auto Body & Paint in Clinton have placed the final changes on one of the trucks. After having been taken apart a couple months ago and repainted, the truck is complete and back on the highway.
“What a great way to practice what we preach when it comes to supporting local businesses and the local community,” says Bart Rice, Small Business Center director at SCC. “Living in a rural town it is very important for members of the community to buy from and support local small businesses. The fact that Sampson Community College looks locally first to do their business says a lot about how it wants our community businesses to be fruitful, continue to grow and create future local jobs for our youth.”

The objective of the Small Business Center (SBC) is to increase the success rate and the number of viable small businesses in North Carolina by providing high quality, readily-accessible assistance to prospective and existing small business owners to foster job creation and retention within the region. The SBC also networks and supports small businesses that already exist.
In addition to getting the new paint job from Davis’ Auto Body & Paint, the Truck Driver Training program is set for other facelifts as well. The training grounds, which have been twenty-seven miles from campus, are relocating to Clinton, which expects to decrease commute times for students and increase enrollment. Additionally, the program has added a brand new Class B driver’s license training class, which includes straight trucks and dump trucks as well. Registration for the first class is July 31ss at 6:00 pm.
