What is PTK?

What is PTK?

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society is an honor society specifically for two-year college students. The mission of Phi Theta Kappa is to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders. Each individual school has its own PTK chapter with student officers and faculty advisers.

How do you become eligible for PTK membership?

To be eligible for PTK membership, a student must have completed at least 12 credit hours of college credit and have a GPA of 3.5. And yes, CCP students are eligible too! Invites to accept membership are sent to all eligible students once per semester.

How will I know if I am eligible to join?

Eligible students will be emailed directly by Phi Theta Kappa headquarters with a unique passcode that can be used at ptk.org to accept membership.

Is there a deadline to accept a membership invitation?

Eligible students that receive a membership invite have until the end of that semester in which invitation was offered to accept. If a student’s GPA does not make them eligible the following semester, they do not get to use previous invite. So all eligible students are encouraged to join as soon as they are eligible!

Does it cost anything to join PTK?

To accept PTK membership, there is a one-time membership fee of $85. Of the total membership fee, your local chapter will keep $15 to help fund local chapter operations.

How do I pay my membership fee?

All eligible students can accept membership and pay membership fee online at ptk.org.

Is there an induction ceremony?

There will be an induction ceremony in April. Details will be communicated in the coming weeks. This ceremony is optional, but all new members are strongly encouraged to attend to support their fellow PTK inductees.

If my GPA drops, do I lose my membership to PTK?

After joining PTK, a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in school to retain membership. After graduation, you keep your PTK membership for life!

What are benefits of joining PTK?

PTK members are eligible to apply for PTK specific scholarships and PTK membership looks great on college applications and resumes.
