Growing up in Clinton, NC, upon graduating high school, Andrew Todd, this week’s Sampson Community College 50th Anniversary spotlight, moved to Wilmington where he found his passion for cosmetology as he assisted in the theater industry. Intrigued by the small class sizes at SCC, in 2004, Andrew moved back home to begin his educational journey in the Cosmetology program. “SCC’s intimate campus allowed me to thrive and become empowered to realize I could accomplish my dreams” adds Todd.
Upon graduating from the Cosmetology program, Andrew began working at a chain salon before branching off on his own. Eight years ago, Andrew began his own salon. Now known as “Fringe” salon in Clinton, Andrew centers the salon around serving their clients, community involvement and supporting other small businesses.
“I never thought I would own my own business” adds Todd, “but with the skills gained from the Cosmetology program and the motivation from staff and faculty, I was reminded that I can accomplish my dreams and help others and the community throughout this journey.”
Congratulations Andrew on being this week’s 50th Anniversary highlight and thank you for sharing your story. For more information about Sampson Community College, visit http://www.sampsoncc.edu or call 910-592-8081, Sampson Community College, “Begin Here, Go Anywhere”.
